If you follow me on the various socials, then this bit of news will seem a bit late. Still, I wanted to post about in on the website for the record: my short story “Brain Nine and the Masseuse” is featured in the March 2025 edition of Cosmic Horror Monthly! It’s very exciting to be featured in such a cool magazine. I have a tricky time with short fiction, but this creepy little story came together nicely and was fun to write. My first short story, “Bonaparte’s Devil”, was published digitally last year in the Whispers in the Earth anthology put together by Gabriela Houston (with a physical edition on the way way!) but there’s something special about this particular story.
I started taking writing seriously after college in 2013. I spent a lot of time writing short stories – mostly horror – and tried to get them published, but to no avail. So I gave up on that part of writing for awhile. Then, when I saw that Cosmic Horror Monthly were opening to submissions, I decided to give it another try 11 years later, and I’m glad I did.
I’m thankful for everyone who has read the story and/or offered congratulations. I know there’s a lot happening in the world, most of it bad, and this creepy little story is such a small thing in comparison. But we gotta let ourselves be happy and proud of the things we accomplish. Don’t let the world grind down your moments, be they big or small.
